Formula One is an incredibly fast-moving sport driven by data. When seconds can change the fate of a race, it is the speed of innovation, technology and data that drives performance and victory.
With well over 10 years of transformation, IBM and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing have signed an Innovation Partnership through 2020 thus allowing both teams to evangelize the direction of technology in F1. From vehicle design, precision manufacturing and simulation, aerodynamic calibration, race-day strategy and real-time analytics, this partnership accelerates performance both on and off the track.
Our visual system represents speed and agility, in both Formula 1 racing and data that provides lightning quick insights.
Highlighting the partnership between IBM and Redbull, our color palette effortlessly blends key IBM and Redbull colors.
The gradients created as a result are applied to typography as well as the iconic Formula One circuits to create ‘lightscapes’ that have an intrinsic sense of movement and energy.
The end result is a simple yet ownable identity system that is intuitively fast, agile and dynamic.
Every Formula One race car undergoes thousands of microscopic alterations and iterations invisible to the average human eye.
Event activation concepts for launch involved creating a digital and light-driven wind tunnel testing simulation experience around a scale model of the Aston Martin Redbull race car to help demonstrate how IBM Watson driven data and insights support aerodynamic calibration, precision in manufacturing and vehicle design.
